East Hampton Kitchen Remodel

Kitchen Remodel of East Hampton New York vacation home

THE DESIGN
During the design process we eliminated a half wall separating the living area from the kitchen and raised the sunken floor up to the level of the kitchen to create better flow in the space.  A partial wall separating the entry from the kitchen that previously held the refrigerator was also removed to facilitate a more open kitchen layout for entertaining as the client desired.  We captured some space from an adjacent angled closet to maximize the "working" wall of the kitchen and shrunk the long counter level window.  The large island was created uninhibited by appliances for a large work surface and entertaining area.
The result was a more open and modern feel to the space with better flow between areas.
The client preferred a "white look" to the kitchen area but wanted some color added so a turquoise large format subway tile was selected for the backsplash area to provide a pop of color and interest.
